A research on assessment of accessibility of green areas: The case of Bartın Province

Abstract
Parks are important part of urban life quality, which is well designed and easy accessibility. Accessible parks are contributed to physical activities of urban people. In this study, Parks are investigated to size of area, accessibility and slope. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used. Total 93 parks are evaluated in Bartın. Parks are classified greatness of area, which is evaluated in this study. It is emerged three different park type (District Park, Quarter Park, Children Park) in Bartın. Other parks (total 89) are evaluated to parks of under standard. Slope groups are evaluated to five groups (0-4%, 4-5%, 5-8%, 8-12% and 12% ) in accessibility boundary. Slope groups of Children Park and parks of under standard supported to access for people with disabilities. Accessibility of all parks in Bartın, that are evaluated; there aren’t accessibility to the parks in the 69% part of city. Because of coincide accessible boundary; it is emerged restricted accessibility area.
