A new process in landscape design: GeoDesign

Abstract
With rapid increases in computer processing power and the release of ArcGIS, a new process, named as “GeoDesign”, has emerged. GeoDesign formalizes and expands the role of geospatial technologies in design workflows, as well as across the entire life cycle of a project by designers and planners to analyze and visualize more accurate and better solutions to make informed policy decisions and implementations by policy makers. GeoDesign addresses landscape architecture, geography, urban planning, and many other disciplines. Hence, it is important emphasizing and applying GeoDesign in Turkey to have more accurate and better design suggestions and solutions. The purpose of this paper was to describe the concept of GeoDesign, to explain its historical development, to provide information about the importance of GeoDesign, and to define its use in landscape design
