Abstract
Throughout history, women have worked in every phase of production.They positively contributed to their family as well as to the national economy. Women obtained their current position in the labor market as a result of difficult and long struggles. But studies show that women with various problems with different degrees in the labor market. Leading cause of these problems is gender-based occupational discrimination.Gender-based occupational discrimination is an issue which focuses on the position of women in the labor market. Improving the position of women in the labor market is associated with employment policyies and their development for women. Since improvements in the position of women in the labor market reflects positively to the development process of countries, importance of employment policies for women has increased. In this study, problems of employed women in Turkey related to gender-based occupational discrimination and their sources are determined.The aim of the study is to propose policies to improve working women’s position in the labor market.
