Efficiency Analysis of the Teams in BEKO Turkish Basketball League

Abstract
This paper investigates how well do teams in the Beko Basketball League play up to their potential. For this purpose using non-parametric data envolopment analysis approach (DEA), the efficieny of basketball teams in the 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011 seasons is measured. Seven variables which show the performace of the teams in the field used as inputs and number of wins of the teams used as output for the analysis. We find that Efes Pilsen and Fenerbahçe Ülker teams are the dominant teams in the league for the seasons analysed. We also conclude that although super efficiency score ranking and season ranking of the teams are not the same, they are quite parellel to each other.
