The Europeanization Process of Businessmen Organizations in Turkey

Abstract
The ongoing Europeanization process in candidate and member states of the European Union (EU) contributes the transformation of business organizations in national level by means of three mechanisms in principle: ‘EU funds’, ‘harmonization with the EU acquis’, and ‘social learning processes’. Since Turkey has signed Customs Union Agreement in 1995, businessmen organizations has started to be influenced from the Europeanization process before gaining the candidacy status. In this paper, how liberal (Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association-TUSIAD and Economic Development Foundation-IKV), conservative (Independent Businessmen Association-MUSIAD, Association of Anatolian Businessmen-ASKON and Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists-TUSKON) and semi-public (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) businessmen organizations have shaped their views on Customs Union Agreement, candidacy status of Turkey, and Economic and Social Council with the impact of Europeanization process.
