All living beings perceive and conduct any information by cell surface receptors in distinct categories at cellular level. Adaptive immunity mechanisms found in animals are not found in plants. Plants with innate immunity sense non-self molecules by cell surface receptors. PRRs, plant cell-surface receptors, comprise of receptor-like kinases (RLKs) and receptor-like proteins (RLPs). RLKs (and RLPs) that is important for the development of cells, tissues and organs constitute the first line of defense of the plant immune system but also allows plants to establish symbiotic interaction. This brief review to introduce the assorted illustrating within structure-function relationships of receptors, provides our understanding with ease how an environmentally harmful stimulant is transferred from the extracellular space into the cell via plant membrane-surface receptors. In this way fundamentals of plant immune mechanisms are detailed with recent findings.
