    The Effect of Local Food Image On The Destination Choice: Case of Kahramanmaras

  • Abstract
    This study, which aims to determine the local food image of Kahramanmaras and to measure its impact on destination choice, was carried out in December 2019. The sample group of the research are local tourists who visited Kahramanmaraş province in 2018. A total of 410 people participated in the survey. In the research, t-test, anova test and regression analysis were applied. According to the data obtained from the research, the local food image has a positive and significant effect on the destination choice (R²:0,265). In addition, it was concluded that the local food images of the individuals who participated in the survey did not significantly differ in terms of group averages according to their gender, age and number of arrivals to the city, but that the local food images of the visitors significantly differed according to the income level. According to these data, it is understood that local food has an important place in gastronomy tourism. In addition, the view that local food is an important phenomenon to be considered in destination marketing is supported.
