Abstract
Today, the preferences of the tourists have been directed towards the fields that have not been touched before, with the potential of physical and human geography, and have rich resources in terms of alternative tourism activities. In recent years, the arrival of tourists coming to our country from the coastal areas that appeal to mass tourism to various destinations in the interior of our country can be seen as a result of these changing tourist preferences. The Black Sea Region has many destinations that can respond to changing tourist preferences, in Turkey. Gümüşhane province, located in the Eastern Black Sea Region of the Black Sea Region, is one of our provinces that stand out in terms of alternative tourism with its natural and cultural touristic elements. Altınpınar (Limni) Lake, which is located within the borders of Altınpınar Village of Torul district of Gümüşhane province, and its immediate surroundings, is one of the potential areas of the region in terms of alternative tourism. With this research, it has been aimed to determine the recreation - tourism potential of Altınpınar Lake by taking into consideration the increasing tourism demand for the Black Sea Region in the recent years and to present it to the use of local people and tourists with a protection-oriented planning. The data of the research was obtained from the literature, the study report obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Nature Conservation and National Parks 12th Regional Directorate and field studies conducted in the region. In this context, firstly, physical and human geography features of Altınpınar (Limni) Lake and its immediate surroundings are revealed. In addition, recreation potential of Altınpınar Lake and its nearby area was determined by using the Forest Recreation Evaluation (ORPD) method developed by Gülez (1990). While doing this process, suggestions were made for the probability of the nature park and the planning of the area in which this lake is located as a touristic destination based on the similarities of the Altınpınar Lake with the Zigana-Limni Lake at a nearby location. As a result of the field studies and evaluations made according to the Gülez method, the recreation potential value of Altınpınar (Limni) Lake and its nearby area was determined as 51%. According to the Gülez method, this value indicates that the site has a moderate recreation potential.
