Qualitative Analysis of Some Urinary Stones Using the X-ray Powder Diffraction Method

Abstract
The urinary system stones which are taken from 12 different patients in Ege University Hospital were analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction method. Powder diffraction patterns of the samples were obtained by a CuKα radiation in Bruker AxsDS Advence model diffractometer. Physical and geometric factor corrections were performed on the diffraction patterns by using the EVA program. The picks on the powder diffraction patterns were evaluated according to the Hanawalt method and the materials entering the structures were determined qualitatively. Urinary acid, whewellite, weddelite were heavily found. In this study, it was observed that the contents of the stones causing urinary system disorders could be determined by X-ray powder diffraction method.
