  • Abstract
    Rapid economic growth, industrialization, urbanization, population growth and welfare increase cause an increase in the amount of waste produced. Challenges due to the increased amount of waste require a waste management approach aimed at producing and consuming no waste or as little waste as possible. One of the objectives of the EU Waste Environment Directive is to collect the waste separately from its source. In order to reach this target and to implement a sustainable waste plan in our country, it is necessary to open waste disposal centers that can be used effectively. In this study, the location problem of the waste collection centers belonging to Çankaya District Municipality is considered. For this purpose, the criteria affecting the location of the waste collection centers are determined, the relations with each other are identified by DEMATEL and the weight of each criterion is calculated by ANP (Analytical Network Process) considering these relations. Then, using these weights, a priority value is obtained for each candidate plant site. Later, the site selection problem is modeled separately based on the p-median and p-center problems commonly used for facility location in the public sector, taking into account the waste collection strategy. The objective functions of these problems are also combined with the priority values determined using the LP-metric approach, consequently, facility locations are decided multi-objectively.
