Abstract
In recent years Geographic Information System (GIS) has been used by many disciplines and it has become an effective tool for solving different problems. One important advantage of GIS is analysis capability. Network Analysis, which is one of these analyzes, is carried out on network data consists of linear geographic objects represented by connected polylines such as roads, rivers, and communication and power transmission lines. Find Service Area, which is an application of Network Analysis, is especially used for emergency services in order to analyze the accessibility and arrival time of service vehicles on network data. In this study a case study for accessibility analysis has been carried out by using network data. The aim of this study is to analyze the accessibility and arrival times of fire vehicles in case of emergency in Ceyhan (Adana) district. Locations of 2 fire stations, transportation network of Ceyhan district, and topographic maps with scale of 1/25000 have been used as data. According to results of study, the fire vehicles can arrive everywhere in Ceyhan but the arrival times differ. Ceyhan has 1425.4 km^2 area and %27 of this area is arrived in 10 minutes. 53 neighborhoods (most of them are located in urban area) of Ceyhan which has 113 neighborhoods in total, are located in this area and contain %79 of population. Having %6 of population 18 rural neighborhoods are arrived more than 20 minutes. In order to reduce arrival times 2 new fire stations should be constructed in Gümürdülü and Kurtkulağı neighborhoods.
