Economic Analysis of Cotton Production: Manisa Province Case

In this study, Manisa province, cotton production economy, input use in cotton production, cost, profitability and productivity analyzes were discussed. The research was carried out to reveal the cotton production economy and analysis in cotton growing farms in Manisa province. The primary data used in the study were obtained from cotton growers in Manisa province by using the questionnaire method. The data obtained from cotton growers were from the 2018 production period. Study revealed that seeded cotton yield per decare varied from 430 kg to 690 kg with an average yield of 569,1 kg. The biggest share in the production costs of farms was the labor costs with 36,64% and input costs with 19,29%. The share of variable costs in total cost was 60,36%. The gross production value was found to be 2.690 TL / da and the cost of producing one kilogram of seeded cotton was 2,17 TL / kg. In order to increase the profitability of cotton production activity; reducing input costs and increasing support at the revaluation rate compared to the previous period, increasing the incentive premium at least at the rate of inflation and paying it on time, widespread and effective use of licensed warehousing, increasing the efficiency and efficiency of inputs, and providing adequate support and incentives to breeding activities is required.
