Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the emotional intelligence of the students who choose Social Work Department, and compared in terms of the sub dimensions and in terms of gender between of state department of social work students (social sciences) and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation students (sciences). The research has been conducted in European University of Lefke with 104 students. Research is a general survey model and a descriptive study. The study group of this study consisted of 104 students studying in the first and second classes of both sections. In this research, EQ Inventory which was developed by Reuven Bar-On (1997) and adopted to be applied in Turkey by Acar (2001) was used and Cronbach Alfa was 0.92 (⍺ = .92). Statistical analyses independent t-test was used in the research. As a result, It was determined that the emotional intelligence scores of the students who read in both sections were close to each other and there was no statistically significant difference in terms of sex. In the same way, there was no statistically significant difference in four dimensions. Only statistically significant difference was found to be in compliance with the dimensions of flexibility and problem-solving in favor of the students who read in the Social Work Department.
