Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the financial performances of the companies included in the Borsa İstanbul Electricity Index (XELKT) by WASPAS method. In addition, the financial performance and stock returns of firms are analyzed within themselves and it is aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between the two variables. Firstly current ratio, treasury ratio, current and fixed asset turnover ratios, financial leverage ratio, asset, shareholders equity and sales profitability ratios for firms were determined and calculated separately for 5 companies. As a result of the analysis conducted, the most successful company for 2016 and 2017 was Ayen Energy (AYEN). In addition, the relationship between firms stock returns and financial performance rankings was investigated with Spearman rank correlation and no statistically significant relationship was found. The application of WASPAS method in the energy sector as a new method in the evaluation of financial performance of firms differentiates the study from other studies.
