A STUDY ON NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION OPERATING WITHIN THE SCOPE OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

In this study, it is aimed to examine the perspectives of non-governmental organizations operating in the scope of sustainable tourism with respect to sustainable tourism. Qualitative research methods were used in the research. A structured interview form consisting of 7 questions was prepared to provide data to the research. This interview form was conducted with 5 non-governmental organizations operating in Istanbul in May 2018 using homogenous sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the research, it is determined that the non-governmental organizations operating in the scope of sustainable tourism are aware of the damages caused by tourism to the natural environment. Another important result of the research is that the non-governmental organizations cannot take active responsibility due to the limitations faced in the process of encouraging the sustainable development of tourism and they are insufficient.
