Abstract
In the post-World War II period, in line with the increase in the share of social spending in the gross domestic product (GDP) of countries, the number of studies investigating the relationship between social spending and economic growth has increased in the literature, and these studies have been carried out especially in the context of developed countries. Achieving sustainable economic growth performance is crucial for the realization of the economic development goals of developing countries. In this context, the role of social spending as a policy tool for achieving economic growth constitutes an important research question. For this purpose, the aim of the study is to analyze the effect of so-cial spending on the growth performance of developing countries. With in this context, the effect of social spending on economic growth for 27 developing countries, between 2008 and 2017 is analyzed with a dynamic model. According to the findings of the study, it is concluded that social spending positively effect economic growth in developing countries.
