Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the changes of inward and outward foreign direct investment in Turkey between the years of 1980-2019. The analysis is based on Dunning s investment-development path theory, in which a country s inward and outward foreign direct investment position depends on economic development. According to this theory, there is a dynamic relationship between net outward investment position and economic development. In addition, the theory argues that as countries economic development levels increase, net outward foreign investment positions go through five stages. According to analysis result, Turkey is at the beginning of third-stage in investment-development path and it is a country consistent with the stages of theory.
