  • Abstract
According to Tourist Guiding Profession Law proficiency of at least one foreign language is required to be able to perform the tourist guidance profession. However, in certain periods, requests are brought to agenda by the tourism associations and non-governmental organizations that instead of the guides with foreign language proficiency, the guidance service for the Turkish tourist groups can be provided by the guides who obtain Turkish Tourist guide ID card. Within this context, the aim of the study is to be able to determine the contributions or the negative impacts from the perspective of the practitioners (tourist guides, agencies) in the Eastern Black Sea Region that Turkish guidance may have for the tourism industry. In line with the aim of the study, the opinions of the relevant stakeholders were obtained by face-to-face interviews or by telephone, using the semi-structured interview technique. The findings acquired were transferred to the computer and examined by means of descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, the positive and negative impacts that Turkish guidance may have on the industry have been revealed from the perspective of stakeholders. While travel agency representatives generally favor Turkish guidance, existing guides are unanimous that Turkish guidance will seriously harm the tourist guiding profession.
