Abstract
Hanımlar Âlemi (April 9 1914 – August 6 1914), Kadınlar Âlemi (June 4 1914- July 30 1914) both newspapers/ journals, which started their publications within a short interval of each other in Istanbul. They were two rival newspapers that were both trying to attract the same readers, both dealing in similar topics and subject matter. Because of the potential revenue that could be gained from advertising and sales and the importance of this revenue for the survival of the newspaper, it would soon bring the two newspapers into direct competition with each other. This article, after giving a brief introduction to each of the newspapers, has tried to be embodied this respective process by the literary movement and the press culture of the period. Thus it aims to contribute to the visibility of the dimensions related to the 1914’s Ottoman press world.
