Abstract
Jizya inventories are important documents that provide data on non-Muslims and Gypsies who are taxpayers living in a settlement. In this article, demographic, social and economic conditions of the taxpayer Gypsies and reaya living in Ferecik district in Edirne province were analyzed according to the jizya inventory numbered 932 in the Finance Ministry Revenue Accounting Cizye Inventory fund in the Ottoman Archives. Accordingly, a total of 3602 local and foreign taxpayer reaya and 146 jizya taxpayer Gypsies live in Ferecik district. The vast majority of taxpayers who are Reaya and Gypsy are between the ages of 11-30. It has been observed that both groups have a nuclear type family structure. According to the jizya class they pay, it is understood that the taxpayers have a medium income. In addition to the jizya inventory mentioned in the article, population registers and some other sources were also used.
