Abstract
In a world where technological developments are rapidly spreading, people who adopt an innovative approach and take risks will have more chances to adjust to the new structure and to succeed. Technological developments accompanied by major changes in working life require individuals to accommodate to changing circumstances. With this in mind, analyzing whether educational activities, which are thought to have substantial impact on enhancing innovation capacity, affect university students’ innovativeness can significantly contribute to the promotion of innovation as a crucial competition tool. In line with this goal, the study presented here attempts to investigate the effect of students’ participation in innovation-related educational activities (e.g., courses, seminars, other activities) on their level of innovativeness. Findings from a survey study with 895 students from regional universities suggest that students’ participation in innovation-related educational activities (specifically, courses) is positively associated with their innovativeness. The results obtained from this study encourage innovation-oriented curriculum- and activity design in higher education institutions.
