Abstract
The study aimed to determine the parental views of the gifted and talented students about Biology projects in Science and Arts Center (SAC). The study group consisted of 31 parents of the gifted and talented students studying Biology projects in two SACs in 2013-2014 academic years in Marmara region in Turkey. The study group was selected by purposive sampling method. A qualitative research approach was used in this study. Data were collected by Parental Questionnaire Related to Biology Projects including 14 openended questions. Data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. According to the results of the study, the parents expected that the students would study Biology projects according to their interests and student-centered projects. In addition, the students would use their knowledge and skills in projects, in their daily and professional life. The parents indicated that project studies made the students free, happy and excited, provided in-depth and sustained learning about the project, offered the opportunity to implement what they learned, increased their interest and curiosity toward Biology and environment.
