Abstract
The aim of the current study is to investigate the attitudes of the candidate teachers over literacy level and scientific research according to various variables and their relation to each other. The research is a relational screening model. As a data collection tool, “Information Literacy Scale (ILS) (Adıgüzel, 2011), “Attitude Scale for Scientific Research (ASSR) (Korkmaz, Şahin and Yeşil, 2011) and “Personal Information Scale” developed by the researchers were used. The working group of the study was made up of candidate teachers attending to the departments of science, philosophy and classroom teaching at two state universities. The working group was made up 418 (77,4%) female and 122 (22,6%) male students, 540 in total. The working group of the study was formed through easy to find sampling technique out of the improbable sampling methods. The key findings of the study are: According to university, it was determined that the ILS scores of teacher candidates did not change significantly, but ASSR scores differed significantly. When it comes to the relation between ILS and ASSR scores, a low level, positive and significant difference was determined between these scores.
