Abstract
The aim of this research is examining the relationships between academic motivation and academic self-efficacy levels. The study group was consist of 352 prospective music teachers. Academic motivation scale, developed by Bozanoğlu was applied to measure prospective music teachers’ academic motivation level, and academic self-efficacy scale which was developed by Jerusalem and Schwarzer (1981) and adapted from Turkish by Yılmaz, Gürçay and Ekici (2007) was used for measure prospective music teachers’ academic self-efficacy levels. The result of the research shows that there is no significant difference between prospective teachers’ academic motivation, academic self-efficacy and their gender, type of high school that was graduated and grade level. The middle level positive correlation was found between academic self-efficacy and academic motivation. According to regression analyze, prospective music teacher’s academic level of academic selfefficacy explained 13 percent of the total variance of academic motivation.
