Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of teachers’ finding their work meaningful working in public schools in Ankara, and the factors that affect them to find their work meaningful. The study, which is a survey model, was conducted with an explanatory mixed research design including quantitative and qualitative methods. The data were collected from 381 public primary school teachers working in nine districts of Ankara. While collecting the data, “The Scale of Meaningfulness of the Work According to Teachers” was used. According to the findings, the level of teachers’ finding their work meaningful was high. T-test, Kruskal Wallis H test and one-way analysis of variance were used to test whether there was a significant variance. There was a significant difference in terms of gender status based on Service Ideal and Social Relations dimensions. The views of teachers about the meaningfulness of their work changed significantly regarding their seniority variable in total and based on Recognition dimension. There was no significant difference in terms of education status variable. The quantitative data were collected using a semi-structured interview form.
