Abstract
Meeting with gender-related expectations can be stressful for the individual. The aim of this study is to develop Masculine Gender Role Stress Scale (MGRSS) in Turkish culture. For this purpose, firstly qualitative research was conducted with 201 male university students. Items were prepared for MGRSS considering the themes in this study. The scale has been applied to 595 undergraduate and graduate male students. MGRSS’s validity was evaluated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Also, the convergent validity of the scale was tested. Content validity were also tested. MGRSS’s internal reliability was tested through the Cronbach’s alpha (Alpha= , 90) and test retest reliability was tested through correlational analysis (,91). These results revealed that MGRSS is a valid and reliable instrument to measure gender role stress level of men in Turkish culture.
