THE EFFECT OF ARGUMENTATION BASED LEARNING PROCESS ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN TEACHING OF FORCE AND MOTION UNIT TO 7^TH GRADE STUDENTS

Abstract
This study was carried out with 78 primary education students from the 7th classes in a Primary School that is sited in the centre of Kastamonu province in the autumn term of the 2011–2012 academic year. In this research, quasi-experimental design that was styled as prior-test last-test control group was used. Before starting the investigation, one of these branches was determined as control group and the other one was determined as experimental group at random. In the study, a multiple-choice achievement test consisting of 24 questions was used. Lesson presentations were made according to argumentation based learning process in the experimental group and according to the available science and technology program in the control group. After the study was completed, when the data that were obtained from the last test which was implemented to experimental and control groups were compared, the experimental group where the argumentation education method was implemented was found more successfull with a significant difference than the control group where the available science and technology program was implemented.
