Abstract
Career choice is one of the most important decisions that adolescent should give in during high school years. In this process, various factors affect high school students and are effective in the career development process. In this study, career anxiety as one of the factors in the career development has been investigated according to variables (grade, type of school, perceived school achievement, the decision about the prospective professions, support received by school guidance center and search information about professions). Research group consists of 415 students attending 11th and 12th grades. Research data were collected through Career Anxiety Scale and Demographic Information Form. The data were analyzed by one-way MANOVA. According to research findings, it was determined that the career anxiety of the students on the family influence were significantly different according to the school type. In addition, the students’ anxiety resulted from family influence and career choices were significantly different according to perceived school achievement. It has been determined that career anxiety for the choice of profession significantly differs according to the decision on a profession. The results were discussed in the light of literature findings.
