Abstract
Educational technology use raises new questions in educational settings. The question is about why and how to use technology in education. The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) Model represents a meaningful model that illustrates and assesses technology use in classrooms. The aim of this study is to examine how a lesson plan based on the Technology Integration Matrix Model (TIM) affects the academic achievement and technology competency of 7th grade science students about subject of “The structure and properties of matter”. The method used is the quasiexperimental quantitative research model with control group that involves a test group (n=26) and a control group (n=27) consisting of 7th grade students. According to findings, the experimental group’s academic achievement based on post test results significantly differed from those of the control group. Even though the experimental group scored higher in the post tests, in terms of technology competency, no statistically significant difference was found between the two groups. As a result, it was determined that lesson plans based on the TIM Model increase student’s academic achievement and technology competencies.
