Abstract
In this study, it has been evaluated whether speech anxiety experienced by classroom teacher candidates receiving education at the faculty of education displays differences in terms of various variables. The purpose of the study is to determine whether classroom teacher candidates experience anxiety concerning the skill of speech, which constitutes the foundation of communication and is a basic part of their occupation, or on which level they experience this anxiety. In this study, which aims at presenting the speech anxiety of classroom teacher candidates, the survey model has been used. The study group of the study consists of students from all grades receiving education in Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University’s Faculty of Education Classroom Teaching Department in the 2016-2017 academic year. The study group consists of 231 students selected through the simple random sampling method. In the study, the ‘Speech Anxiety’ scale, developed by Kinay and Özkan (2014), with three sub-dimensions and a Cronbach Alpha value of .94 has been used to collect data. In the study, the SPSS 22 software program has been used in the analysis of data. According to the results of the study, a significant difference has been determined in the speech anxiety of the students in the physiological dimensions in terms of gender. It has been determined that senior level students experience more speech anxiety compared to the other levels in all of the sub-dimensions in terms of grade.
