  • Abstract
    Illustrations are the basic elements of books. Illustrations used in textbooks should be suitable for all students with special needs and those without. The aim of this research is to determine the opinions of elementary first graders primary school teachers working in mainstreaming classes on the use of illustrations in primary school textbooks and lessons. In the province of Bolu, primary school first class and 9 class teachers who have special needs student in class participated in the research. In the collection of the research data, Teacher Personal Information Form developed by the researchers and the Illustrative Use Opinion Form (IUOF) composed of semi-structured questions were used. Content analysis techniques were used to analyze the qualitative data related to the research. At the end of the study; most of the teachers were shown in illustrations in elementary school textbooks quite widely on the other hand, some teachers stated that as the class level increases, the level of illustration usage decreases. The findings and suggestions of the teachers about the use of illustrations in the findings are discussed.
