Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the quantum learning model on the cognitive learning strategies and problem solving skills of the 7th grade students of mathematics in secondary school. The research was carried out with 48 students studying at 7th grade in A and B classes of a public school in Siirt. Mixed method dealing with quantitative and qualitative research patterns was used. As a data collection tool, problem-solving skill test, the semi-structured interviews form developed by the researchers and scale of intelligent learning strategies developed by the Gürcan (2004) were used. In analyzing the data, the Mann Whitney U-Test and Wilcoxon Marked Rank test, descriptive and content analysis methods were used. At the end of the research, in the experimental group where the quantum learning model was applied, it was observed that cognitive learning strategies and problem solving skills of the experimental group, were significantly higher than the students in the control group.
