Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to examine the construction validity of emerging adulthood inventory which was developed by Reiffman, Arnett and Colwell (2003) and adapted to Turkish language by Atak and Çok (2008). For this purpose, the measurement invariance of emerging adulthood inventory across to gender and age incomparison groups is analysed by Multi Group Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MGCFA) which testing covariance structure invariance within structural equation modelling. The participants were 1061 undergraduate and pedagogic formation programme students from Education Faculty in Mersin University. The measurement invariance of emerging adulthood inventory across gender and age groups was analyzed by MGCFA and four interwoven hierarchical models. The variables were examined using comparative fit index (CFI) difference test between the more restrictive invariance form and the basic form to determine whether the model and the individual parameter estimates are invariant across the samples. The measurement invariance results of emerging adulthood inventory according to gender and age groups revealed that whole scale and 3 sub-factors have not scalar and strict invariance and have configural and metric invariance (accept for gender - experimentation/self focused factor.).
