Abstract
In this study, it was examined whether narrative text writing skills of the seventh grade students differed according to gender, parental education level, monthly average income, book reading frequency, pre-education and Turkish course grade variables. The research was carried out on the texts written by 515 seventh grade students in six different schools in Diyarbakır province in 2016 -2017 academic year. The research was conducted according to the relational screening model. In order to evaluate texts written by the students Narrative Text Writing Completion Form (Başkan, 2018) was used and in order to evaluate written expressions Narrative Text Completion Rubric (Başkan, 2018) was used. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students writing skills were medium level. In addition, statistically significant differences were found between the students story writing skills and gender, parental education level, book reading frequency and pre-school education variables.
