Abstract
The aim of this study is to present effectiveness of the science education program on children’s science learning and perspective-taking skills. In this study, a pretest-posttest control group trial method was employed, and 60 children with similar characteristics, attending kindergarten, constituted the research sample including those who were selected by means of unbiased sampling method from two preschool education institutions, and these participants were divided into two groups: the experiment group (14 girls and 16 boys), and the control group (14 girls and 16 boys). Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, Science Learning Assessment (SLA) and Perspective-Taking test intended towards s4-5-year-old children. As for data analysis, t- test method was employed in independent groups for comparison of pretest scores between experiment group and control group. Two-Way Variance Analysis (ANOVA) technique was used for comparison of pretest final test scores between the experiment group and the control group since there were not any significant differences between pretest score averages among these groups. Statistically significant level of difference was found in favor of the experimental group in Science Learning Assessment and Perspective-Taking Test scores in pretest-posttest. These results revealed that science training program applied to children in the experimental group was effective in these children’s science learning and perspective-taking skills.
