Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge levels of teachers and school administrators, their work in this process, their responsibilities, the problems they face and their solution suggestions during the transition process of individuals with intellectual disabilities to work life. The research data were collected from 17 vocational teachers and 10 school administrators who work in Special Education Job Application Centers and Special Education Vocational Training Centers in Bolu and Düzce city centers in the 2016-2017 academic year. Qualitative research method was used in the research. The data of the research was obtained by comparing the data obtained from the semi-structured interview questions form and the checklist. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the knowledge of the vocational teachers and school administrators working in the schools where the individuals with intellectual disabilities are insufficient about the transition and transition service plan and that they do not do any practice on this issue. It was found that teachers and school administrators face problems such as failure to transition to work life, inability to perform professional practice, lack of material, and failure to cooperation. The findings are discussed within the scope of the related literature, and it is concluded that transition service plans should be prepared for the transition of individuals with mental deficiency to work life.
