  • Abstract
    The visual arts education has an impact on the development of creative thinking of students accepted by scholars. Previous studies indicated that visual arts education based on the application in studio dominantly develops students’ creative thinking. Accordingly, it has been claimed that visual arts education curriculum as based on the application mainly, can be significant effect upon the development of the students’ creative thinking skills. Conversely, it has been seen that there have been a significant diminish in the lesson hours based on studio lessons in the curriculum came into force on the 2018-2019 academic years. Accordingly, it can be said that effect of the current new program upon the creative thinking skills of candidates of visual arts teachers will have less impact compared to the previous program. The aim of this study was to reveal the possible effect of the new curriculum of the visual arts education upon the students’ creative thinking development comparing with the previous curriculum. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics as Simpson’s Paradox and Correlation Coefficient. Consequently, it was found that there have been a significant diminish in the lesson hours based on studio lessons in the new curriculum. This result showed that necessary corrections should be made for this new curriculum.
