    THE EFFECT OF ACTIVE TEACHING METHODS, ON MATHEMATICS ACHIEVEMENT: A META-ANALYSIS STUDY

  • Abstract
    Turkey in mathematics education; information technologies, collaborative, drama, game, concept maps, visualization, cartoon, work leaves, such as alternative learning-teaching approaches and materials are trying to increase student success. In this study, to combine the findings of studies investigating the effects on mathematics achievement of active teaching methods in Turkey, to calculate the average effect size value and are intended to reveal the big picture. The method of this research is the meta-analysis method which is one of the literature screening methods. In this context the study, produced between 01.01.2000 and 12.31.2017 were analyzed 112 study history in Turkey. In the study, it was observed that active teaching methods affected students mathematics achievement in a positive level (ES-Effect size: .998). For the purpose to promote the use of active teaching methods in Turkey, especially to provide facilities to take advantage of these methods in the field of education it is very important and makes every effort to keep pace with technological innovation. In addition, the dissemination of these methods at all levels of education and education, encouraging these practices, determining the materials to be used in the process, students ages, interests and abilities, knowledge levels and the subjects of the course should be taken into consideration.
