Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the personality types of teachers and their alienation from the profession. This research was modeled according to relational descriptive pattern and data collected from 663 teachers working in Düzce. Personality types of the teachers were analyzed by Adjective Based Personality Test. Besides, the alienation scale of the profession was used to evaluate the level of alienation of teachers to the profession. In addition, the relationship between the personality types of teachers and alienation is examined. According to the findings of the study, the most common personality types among teachers are tender-mindedness, extroversion, openness to experience and responsibility. The least common personality type is neuroticism. According to the results of the study, there is a significant difference between the level of school and the alienation of the teachers. Alienation is highest in high school teachers. Besides, it is seen that there is a significant difference in the alienation level of teachers who do not like the profession. There is no significant difference in terms of gender, education level being a graduate of Faculty of Education, type of staff, professional seniority, age. It is seen that teachers with high neurotic personality traits have significantly more professional alienation. There is a negative and significant correlation with extroversion, tender-mindedness, responsibility, and alienation from the profession. In addition, there is a positive and significant correlation between neurotic personality type and alienation from the profession.
