Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the problems faced by school principals assigned for the first time. The study is designed as qualitative research. The study group of the study consisted of 8 school principals in Giresun. The data was gathered through interviews. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis. It is aimed to identify the problems about management process, staff-student services, educational services and school management in the study. The results of the study showed that the school principals encountered the problems regarding the management process are decision making, communication and supervision; regarding staff services are staff rights, permission and discipline; regarding student services transfer and attendance; regarding educational services are planning of education, planning of meetings, providing materials, monitoring classes; regarding consulting services, student disciplinary affairs, supplementary courses, school-parents association, school-environment relations; regarding school administration the school garden, building, equipment maintenance and repair works, official works, security, cleaning materials, budget, canteen.
