Abstract
In this research, evaluating experiences of Syrian students learning Turkish as foreign language within listening skill is aimed. The study is conducted with 10 B2 levels of Syrian students studying at TÖMER in a state university. Phenomenology pattern is used in this study created with the approach of qualitative research. The data of the study is gathered with semi-structured interviews and descriptive analysis method is handled to analyze research’s data. In consequence of the research, it is determined triple-tongue, consuming some letters of the words, paying no attention to stress and intonation, not arranging loudness of voice, accent differences, using foreign words while speaking Turkish affect adversely Syrian students’ listening process. Besides, it is observed Syrian students are disposed to listen to topics they are interested in impending their career and related to daily life at universal quality; speakers using body language effectively and unsophisticated language. The results of the study reveal the education Syrian students gets at TÖMER is beneficial at understanding what they listen.
