Abstract
In this study, phenomenological method, one of the qualitative research designs, have been employed. Study group includes 201 students in scientific and class teacher candidates department of the Education Faculty in at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, Faculty of Education, during 2017-2018 academic years. To be able to assess the perceptions of scientific and class teacher candidates towards “Microscope ... is similar / like to; Because ... is written have been distributed to teacher candidates, and teacher candidates have been asked to reveal their perceptions about global warming by making use of only one metaphor. Data gained during this study have been focused in accordance with content analysis. No metaphor was produced during the analysis, or multiple metaphores were generated and metaphores incompatible with the reasons (total 38) were excluded from the study. The 175 metaphores considered as the result of the analysis are grouped under 6 conceptual categories such as resembling structure, discovering invisibility, reaching knowledge, detailing what you see, making the journey into secrets and teaching by amusing. The categories were created by the researchers and presented to two field experts’ opinions and opinions that are incompatible with each other have been identified. The reliability of the research in the study was calculated as 93,71% according to the reliability formula of Miles and Huberman (1994). The suggestions are made according to the results obtained in the study.
