The Examination Of Attitudes Of Mothers That Are Immigrants Or Non-Immigrants And Their Children s Media Use In Terms Of Diverse Variables

The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of mothers that are immigrants or non-immigrants living in Turkey, and children s media use in terms of diverse variables. Descriptive scanning method has been used in the study. The study group consists of 260 mothers whose children attend the pre-school education institution. In the study, The Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) has been used to evaluate mother attitudes. To determine the behaviors of the children in the pre-school period towards media use, a questionnaire prepared by the researchers has been used. In the prepared questionnaire, questions have been asked about media tools pre-school children use, how often they use these media tools, their mother s opinions about children s media use. There is no statistically significant difference found between the mother attitudes of the immigrant and non-immigrant parents and the media use. While there is no meaningful difference, it can be said that immigrant parents are more cautious about media use.
