Abstract :
An analytic approach for calculating the magnetic fields produced by a SGEMP boundary layer created over a large planar region is described. Expressions are derived for the field created near the edge of a semi-infinite region when photoemission is occurring over the entire region simultaneously. A finite-width strip is then considered, where emission times across the strip are phased at the speed of light. Expressions for the magnetic field near the edge of the strip are derived. The analytical formulas are numerically evaluated to demonstrate the field enhancement due to phased emission
