Abstract :
Magnetic domains in twisted and untwisted Fe-rich amorphous ribbons have been studied by Bitter and SEM techniques. Variation of the orientation of the magnetic easy axis across the ribbon width is observed, and related to longitudinal stresses resulting from second-order elastic effects. Longitudinal zigzag domain walls are a stable feature of the demagnetized state. Wall motion under applied fields and currents is irregular and complex.
