Abstract :
This paper presents a new analytical technique for the calculation of rotating eddy current losses in steel laminations. This technique employs an "n-th root approximation" B = KH(1/n) for magnetization curves. First, the exact analytical solutions of the nonlinear differential equaitons are given for the case of circular polarization of electromagnetic fields. Using these solutions, eddy current losses are calculated. The case of elliptical polarization is treated as a perturbation of circular polarization. On this basis, eddy current losses in steel laminations for elliptical polarizations are found.
