Abstract :
A new surface treatment method was developed, which improves wear resistance of thin film magnetic recording media. In this method, a thin film of higher fatty acids, their metal salts, amides, esters, etc. is coated on the magnetic film surface by the vacuum deposition method, and it is called the "lubricant deposition method". In this experiment, a still life of more than 60 minutes could be obtained by depositing lithium oleate on the HIN deposition tape.
