Abstract
The influence of different thermomagnetic preparatory treatments of a 5% Si-Fe single crystal with Néel orientation on the behaviour of the magnetic domain structure was investigated by means of the Kerr magneto-optic effect. The crystal was cooled down from 600°C to room temperature applying different kinds of magnetic fields, which leads to various kinds of behaviour of the domain widths depending on the actual magnetic field strength and temperature, caused by the induced magnetic anisotropy. Since the magnetic anisotropy constant depends on the silicon content, the results of the measurements with the crystal containing 5% Si are compared with results of those with crystals containing 2.5% Si reported in earlier papers.
