Abstract :
The authors present a novel quasi-TEM analysis of suspended striplines with irregular edge profile and substrate supporting groove. The analysis is based on the integral equation using Green functions in multilayered media in conjunction with the extended two-dimensional Green theorem. Its original features stem from: (1) the unknown parameters to be determined are the surface charges on the metallic strip and the potentials at the apertures of the substrate supporting groove, which leads to a characteristic equation of very small order, (2) the formulation involved in the potential at the aperture is innovative; and (3) the effects of irregular edge profile of the metallic strip are estimated for the first time.
