Abstract :
The spontaneous Hall effect has been studied in ferromagnetic Gd-An amorphous films containing up to 20 atomic % of Tb, Ho, Er, Tm or Nd replacing Gd. It has been found that the non-S-state rare earths have the same effectiveness as a Hall scatter as the replaced Gd. Decreases in the spontaneous Hall conductivity ( R_{s}/\\rho^{2} ) in the ternary alloys are associated with decreases in Curie temperature as found earlier for the original Gd-Au binary system. The Curie temperature is used as a measure of the conduction electron polarization. It is these spin polarized electrons of the ferromagnetic Gd-Au host which is one of the important Hall parameters in its interaction with the non-S-state rare earths. The light rare earth Nd has an exceptionally high value of Hall conductivity.
